Daoning Zhang

Daoning Zhang is a Senior Lecturer in International Commercial Law at the Faculty of Business and Law, University of Roehampton. Previously, he held a senior position at Canterbury Christ Church University, teaching corporate and commercial law. He holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, specializing in cross-border insolvency law and creditor protection.

Education:

• PhD in Law from the University of Manchester (Focus: Cross-border insolvency law)

Research Interests: His work focuses on international commercial law, cross-border insolvency frameworks, corporate governance, maritime contracts, and EU corporate restructuring. He explores legal solutions for multinational business failures and director accountability mechanisms.

Grants & Projects: Lead investigator for the BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grant (2024-2026) examining corporate accountability and legal frameworks.

Activities: Keynote speaker at the Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference (2024), Maritime Law and Policy Conferences (2022-2023), and peer reviewer for International Insolvency Review.
