Danny Rankin is an Associate Teaching Professor and Associate Director of Undergrad Programs at the ATLAS Institute, University of Colorado Boulder. He specializes in Creative Technology & Design, leading the Whaaat!? Lab for experimental game and interaction design. His work spans graphic design, material fabrication, game design, hardware hacking, sustainable agriculture, and large-scale art installations.
Education: B.A. in Environmental Studies (CU Boulder) and M.S. in Creative Technology & Design (ATLAS Institute). His research includes cooperative card games like Ravine (2017 Kickstarter success) and Busy Work (2017 IndieCade winner), both exhibited at the XOXO Festival (2018).
Awards include the 2017 IndieCade Media Choice Award. He mentors in the ATLAS BTU Lab and teaches courses like TAM game design and Mobile Application Development. His design thesis created a physical model of internet mechanics using pneumatic tubes and ping pong balls.
