Danny Hoffman is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Washington, affiliated with the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. His research spans violence and militarism, global capitalism, poststructuralism, and visual anthropology, with a regional focus on West Africa.
- PhD in Anthropology from Duke University (2004)
His work explores experimental ethnography and the social dynamics of conflict zones, particularly in West Africa. This includes visual narrative construction through photographic practice and the biopolitics of marginalized communities.
Professor Hoffman has advised several graduate students, including Megan Styles (2011), David Henry Galen Boarder Giles (2013), Stephanie C. Maher (2016), and Leyla Savloff (2019), whose dissertations reflect his mentorship in topics ranging from migration studies to food activism.
