Daniel Hoffman

**Daniel Hoffman** is the Director and Stanley D. Golub Endowed Chair in International Studies at the University of Washington's Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies (JSIS), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He joined UW in 2004 and previously held leadership roles as Chair of African Studies and Associate Chair of Anthropology. His research focuses on militarization in West Africa, with notable publications on Liberia and Sierra Leone. Hoffman teaches courses like *Sport & Democracy* and *Sports and Diplomacy*. He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Duke University (2004).
