Danny Galyen is Professor of Music and Director of Bands at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). He conducts the Wind Ensemble, oversees UNI's eight band ensembles administratively and artistically, and teaches graduate/undergraduate courses in conducting, wind literature, and music education. Prior to his current role, he directed the Panther Marching Band and conducted the Symphonic Band at UNI.

- M.M. in Music Education with Wind Conducting emphasis from Syracuse University
- Ph.D. in Music Education with Wind Conducting concentration from University of Florida
Galyen specializes in wind conducting, contemporary chamber music, and music pedagogy. His international guest conducting engagements include performances in Uzbekistan, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, and England. He has significantly expanded the Panther Marching Band membership and led international tours to London (2015, 2016) and Rome (2017).
His scholarly contributions include publications in The WASBE Journal, The Instrumentalist, Research Perspectives in Music Education, and other leading music journals. He actively presents at national music conferences.

Galyen serves as conductor and co-founder of the UNI Faculty L'Histoire Septet chamber ensemble. Professional memberships include Music Educators National Conference, College Band Directors National Association, College Music Society, and Pi Kappa Lambda. He holds honorary memberships in Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
