Danna-Mechelle Lewis is an Assistant Professor in Criminology and Sociology at Northumbria University, affiliated with the Centre for Crime and Policing. Previously, she served as Senior Vice-Chancellor's Fellow. Her research focuses on risk assessment in criminal and family courts, mattering theory, coercive control (including gaslighting), and domestic abuse survivor support. She holds a PhD in Criminology from Newcastle University and a PGCert in Academic Practice from Northumbria University.

She teaches Criminology and PCDA programs, provides NVivo training, and supervises PhD students. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to justice and education. She collaborates with organizations like Cardiff Women’s Aid and HM Inspectorate of Probation.
