C. Danielle Vinson is a Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Furman University, where she has served since 1995. She previously chaired the Political Science Department (2009–2015) and currently serves as Furman's Faculty Athletics Representative. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University, along with an M.A. from Duke and a B.A. from Furman University.
Her research focuses on American government institutions, particularly Congress and media interactions, including studies on political campaigns, religious influence in media, and judicial coverage. She has authored two books and numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals like Political Communication and Press/Politics.
Dr. Vinson has received multiple accolades including the 2001 Furman Meritorious Advising Award and teaching recognition from South Carolina Independent Colleges. Her advising role extends to directing the Department’s Washington internship program and leading student organizations.
Her courses include Congress, the Presidency, Media and Politics, and Native American Politics. She is frequently consulted by media outlets for insights on South Carolina's political landscape, especially during presidential primaries.
