Professor Danielle George is a distinguished academic at the University of Manchester, specializing in Radio Frequency Engineering within the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. She holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering from UMIST (now part of the University of Manchester), an MSc in Radio Astronomy from the University of Manchester, and a BSc in Astrophysics.
Her research focuses on advancing low-noise receivers for space and aerospace applications, notably contributing to the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) and the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) projects. She has pioneered broadband amplifier designs up to 116 GHz and collaborated with NASA, ESA, and Rolls-Royce. Her work bridges academic and industrial sectors, including agricultural instrumentation and public STEM engagement.
Professor George is a passionate advocate for science communication, recognized through awards such as the Michael Faraday Medal (2018) and Rooke Medal (2016). She co-founded the 'Manchester Robot Orchestra' and delivered Royal Institution Christmas Lectures. Her leadership roles include Deputy President of the IET (2018–2020), President of the Association for Science Education (2016–present), and membership on the IET Board of Trustees.
