Daniela Montemerlo

Daniela Montemerlo serves as Affiliate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at SDA Bocconi School of Management, Full Professor of Management and Family Business at the University of Insubria, and Professor of Strategic Management in Family Businesses at Bocconi University. She teaches Corporate Governance in Executive MBA programs and family business courses for executives, family business owners, and boards of directors across medium/large companies and financial institutions.

She earned both her degree and Ph.D. in Business Administration from Bocconi University, establishing her academic foundation in organizational theory and governance structures.

Professor Montemerlo's research centers on family business systems and corporate governance frameworks. Her work investigates family governance mechanisms, ownership agreements, next-generation development pathways, intra/inter-generational dynamics, co-leadership models, organizational transformation processes, and women's leadership in family enterprises. She examines governance design including ownership structures, board composition challenges, and diversity implementation within both family and non-family contexts.

Her recent publications (2023-2024) reveal a clear trajectory toward practical governance solutions for family firms, emphasizing succession planning, performance impact measurement, and sustainable business transitions. Key themes include governance system substitution effects, non-listed company governance tools, and the interplay between family dynamics and corporate strategy.
