Prof. Dr.-Ing. Daniela Konrad serves as Professor for Sustainable Construction in Urban Contexts within the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Environment at the University of Bremen. Her position is based in building room AB, 608 at Neustadtswall 30, 28199 Bremen, with research and teaching focused on advancing sustainable building practices through social, ecological, and economic transformations in urban construction.
Her research centers on sustainable construction methodologies for existing building stock renovation and circular economy implementation, emphasizing material cycles, primary resource conservation, and treating building materials as degradable/reusable assets. Current initiatives include real-world laboratories for sustainable construction methods (09/2024-11/2025) and housing construction in existing buildings (starting 01/09/2025), alongside participation in the Research Cluster Region in Transition.
Prof. Konrad supervises bachelor's and master's theses through selected project modules and elective courses, while leading practical applications via the School of Architecture Bremen's mobile DesignBuild laboratory—which recently adopted an emissions-free cargo bike for sustainable operations—as evidenced by the summer 2025 exhibition and Weser Bridge load testing collaboration.
