Prof. Dr.-Ing. Silke Eckardt serves as Vice Rector for Research and Transfer at Bremen University of Applied Sciences within Faculty 2, Department of Buildings and Urbanism (B+U). Her office resides in building UB, room 106 at Neustadtswall 30, 28199 Bremen, focusing on Sustainable Energy Supply and Resource Efficiency.
Her research spans Renewable Energy systems, Circular Economy implementation, and Waste Technology with emphasis on offshore wind decommissioning strategies and closed-loop recycling processes. Specific expertise includes converting post-consumer plastic waste into 3D printing materials, resource-efficient project management, and sustainable water management systems.
Prof. Eckardt leads major research initiatives such as the 3D Art project (HSB-funded) developing plastic waste recycling pipelines, SeeOff (BMWi-funded) addressing offshore wind farm decommissioning economics and safety, and KrOW optimizing wind farm operations through risk management. These projects directly inform her project-based teaching modules conducted in partnership with industry.
She operates within the university's Circular Economy Laboratories and Environmental Technology Laboratories, where applied research on recycling technologies and sustainable resource systems is conducted. Current activities include Weser Bridge load testing support and emissions-free cargo bike development for mobile design laboratories.
