Daniela DE LEO is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities at the University of Salento. Her academic expertise spans theoretical philosophy, hermeneutics, and the philosophy of mind and knowledge. She teaches courses such as Theoretical Philosophy, Foundations of Hermeneutics, and Philosophy for Children, reflecting her commitment to both pedagogical and philosophical inquiry. Her research focuses on twentieth-century philosophical thought, particularly the intersection of aesthetics and theoretical philosophy, and she has conducted extensive studies on the manuscripts of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, shedding light on his engagement with music and art.
Her work includes analyses of cinematic and literary texts through a philosophical lens, exploring themes such as fear, communication, and the phenomenology of aesthetic experience. Key publications include studies on Merleau-Ponty’s unpublished manuscripts, which challenge earlier assumptions about his indifference to music. She has also contributed to interdisciplinary projects, bridging philosophy with media studies and education.
DE LEO’s research has been recognized through collaborative projects and contributions to peer-reviewed journals. Her academic contributions emphasize the critical reinterpretation of canonical philosophical texts and their relevance to contemporary cultural and educational contexts.
