Daniel Wong is a Lecturer in the MA Art Therapy program at Western Sydney University, Australia. He holds advanced degrees including MA ArtTh (Art Therapy), MA ArtAdmin (Art Administration), and BFA (Fine Art). His research explores the intersection of art, health, and well-being, with a focus on psychoanalytic theory, material engagements, and therapeutic processes involving grief, trauma, and post-traumatic growth. He is a practicing artist specializing in textile and found-object art.
Key roles include co-editor of JoCAT: Journal of Creative Arts Therapies and External Advisory Committee (EAC) member for Western Sydney University’s MA Art Therapy program (2022–2024). He actively contributes to Thai and Singaporean art therapy networks, serving on the Art Therapy Foundation Thailand committee and co-founding the Art Therapists’ Association Thailand.
Research highlights include co-editing Found Objects in Art Therapy (2021) and co-authoring a study on museum-based memory projects (2019). Notable projects include Shared Narratives (2019–2022), funded by The Irish Funds Singapore and Cultural Matching Fund, which showcased at the National Museum of Singapore.
His workshops address therapeutic uses of art in oncology care, trauma response, and social media addiction. He has presented internationally at conferences in Thailand, Australia, and Malaysia, emphasizing creative arts as tools for resilience and healing.
