Daniel Winkler

Prof. Daniel Winkler is a Professor of Romance Studies at the University of Heidelberg, specializing in Italian and French literature, media, and cultural studies. He leads a research group focusing on the societal and affective roles of literature and media, with a geographic focus on Italy, France, the Mediterranean, the Alps, and Canada. His work bridges theoretical analysis with concrete aesthetic and media-specific studies, emphasizing critical reflection on cultural practices and identities.

• Current Projects: Collaborative Research Center (SFB 1671) sub-project 'Visual Ciphers of Home', DFG-funded research on Luis Trenker's media legacy, and the 'Popular Cultures' master project.
• Editorial Roles: Co-editor of Zibaldone and lettere aperte, board member of ATeM and Regards.
