Daniel Williams is an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Saint Mary. He holds a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Kansas (2009) and an M.S. in Evolutionary Biology from Georgia College & State University (2004). Since joining USM in 2013, he teaches anatomy, physiology, ecology, and ornithology while leading research on climate change impacts on vertebrates and urban ecology.

- Research Focus: Evolutionary ecology of fossil and modern birds/mammals, vertebrate microfauna analysis, and urban adaptation studies
His work combines fieldwork, systematics, and biogeography to investigate ecological responses to global changes. Current projects include studying White-tailed Deer in climate-affected habitats and urban bird populations.
Dr. Williams actively mentors undergraduate researchers in ecology fieldwork, focusing on urban-adapted species like Virginia Opossums and Gray Squirrels. Collaborative projects span forensic biology, skeletal analysis, and environmental impact assessments.
