معرفی
Dr Daniel Whiter is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Southampton Theory Astrophysics and Gravity (STAG) Research Centre. His research focuses on auroral phenomena, ionospheric dynamics, and space plasma physics, with a particular emphasis on auroral acceleration mechanisms, upper atmospheric effects of auroral precipitation, and long-term ionospheric changes. He leads or co-leads multiple research projects funded by institutions like the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
- Research Projects: Includes studies on EISCAT_3D auroral structuring, auroral kilometric radiation during substorms, and field campaigns at Svalbard's Kjell Henriksen Observatory.
- Advising: Currently supervising PhD students in Physics & Astronomy and INSPIRE programs.
- Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Kjell Henriksen Observatory and international teams for auroral observations.
His publications explore auroral morphology, electric field dynamics, and citizen science applications in space research. His work bridges observational data with theoretical models to advance understanding of Earth's space environment.
