Professor Poshak Gandhi is a Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Department of Physics and Astronomy. His research focuses on time-domain astrophysics, black holes, lunar astronomy, and data-intensive astronomy. He leads projects like the Leverhulme Emeritus Fellowship and the Formation of Compact-objects Under Scrutiny (FoCUS) initiative. His work leverages advanced observatories such as the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to study active galactic nuclei (AGN) and their dynamics.
Notable accolades include the NASA Group Achievement Award (2016) and the STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowship (2014). He currently supervises five PhD students in Physics, focusing on topics like galactic nuclei and astrophysical phenomena. Professor Gandhi collaborates with global teams through the Southampton Theory Astrophysics and Gravity (STAG) Research Centre and the Multiwavelength Accretion and Astronomical Transients group.
