Dr. Daniel Whelan is a Professor in the Politics Department at Hendrix College, specializing in human rights, international relations, and HIV/AIDS policy. He holds a B.A. in Politics and International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.A. in Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University, and a Ph.D. from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. His career includes roles as executive director of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) and adjunct teaching positions at the University of Denver and Metro State College of Denver. At Hendrix, he revitalized the International Relations major and emphasizes engaged learning, advocating for student-faculty collaboration beyond traditional classrooms. His research bridges human rights theory with practical applications, particularly in gender equity and global health.
