Daniel Vigo is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, jointly appointed in the Department of Psychiatry (Division of Neuroscience and Translational Psychiatry) within the Faculty of Medicine, and the School of Population and Public Health. He simultaneously serves as Chief Scientific Advisor for Psychiatry, Toxic Drugs & Concurrent Disorders and Regional Lead Psychiatrist for Assertive Community Treatment for the Province of British Columbia. Beyond UBC, he is a Scientist at the Centre for Health Evaluation & Outcome Sciences, Lecturer in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University, and Member of both the Institute of Mental Health and the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health.
His research agenda centres on quantifying and mitigating the global burden of mental disorders. He focuses on:
- Burden-of-disease estimation to inform policy priorities.
- Design and assessment of interventions that improve health-service delivery.
- Health-systems evaluation, particularly in low-resource settings.
- Psychiatric epidemiology, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based psychotherapy.
