Daniel Unterweger

Daniel Unterweger serves as Junior Professor for Intestinal Microbiology at Kiel University, holding dual affiliations with the Institute for Experimental Medicine (IEM) and the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology (MPI). His research group investigates bacterial evolution within host environments using advanced imaging, murine models, and molecular techniques.

His primary research focuses on bacterial adaptation during chronic inflammation and therapeutic restoration of ancestral bacterial states.
