معرفی
Daniel Tranel is the F. Wendell Miller Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa, holding a joint appointment in Neurology. His research integrates clinical neuropsychology with cognitive neuroscience to investigate brain-behavior relationships through lesion methods and functional neuroimaging.
Education
- Ph.D., University of Iowa, 1982
Dr. Tranel's work focuses on the neural basis of higher cognitive functions, personality, and social behaviors. He employs lesion mapping and MRI to study executive function, judgment/decision-making, language, memory, and neural plasticity.
His research reveals prefrontal cortex involvement in authoritarianism, religious fundamentalism, and value-based decisions, while his co-authored textbook 'Neuropsychological Assessment' remains a field standard. Current work emphasizes social cognition and psychopathology through interdisciplinary neuroscience approaches.
Awards and Honors
Holds the F. Wendell Miller Professorship, a distinguished endowed chair recognizing exceptional contributions to neuroscience and psychology.
