Natalie Denburg is a Professor at the University of Iowa with appointments in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and the Department of Neurology. Her research focuses on the cognitive neuroscience of aging, real-world decision-making, and neuroeconomics, with additional interests in elder abuse, cancer survivorship, and psychophysiology of emotion.
Her recent publications explore aging-related changes in decision-making, including studies on financial behavior, hormonal influences (e.g., cortisol), and neural substrates like the prefrontal cortex. She has contributed to understanding cognitive outcomes in cancer survivors and neurobiological mechanisms underlying economic choices in older adults.
Denburg is affiliated with the American Psychological Association, Gerontological Society of America, International Neuropsychological Society, and serves as a standing member in an NIH study section. Her work integrates clinical science, cognitive neuroscience, and behavioral economics to address age-related vulnerabilities.
