معرفی
Antoine Bechara is a Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Southern California (USC). His research focuses on understanding the neural, cognitive, and emotional mechanisms underlying decision-making, addiction, and behavioral disorders. He is best known for co-developing the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT), a seminal tool for studying decision-making deficits in clinical and non-clinical populations.
His work spans multiple domains, including:
- Neuroscience (amygdala-striatal interactions, prefrontal cortex function)
- Behavioral Addictions (social media, gaming, obesity-related eating disorders)
- Cognitive Modeling (neural networks, triadic/tripartite frameworks)
- Clinical Translation (bridging psychopathology research with real-world applications)
Recent publications highlight his exploration of time perception in addiction, neurocognitive models of problematic eating, and the role of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in decision-making. He has served as Chief Editor for Frontiers in Psychology and Frontiers in Psychiatry, and as Guest Associate Editor for decision neuroscience journals.
