Daniel Tolstoy is an Assistant Professor and Docent at the Department of Marketing and Strategy, Stockholm School of Economics. His research focuses on International Business, particularly International Entrepreneurship, E-commerce Strategies, and Sustainability Transitions led by Multinational Enterprises (MNEs). He explores how SMEs create foreign market opportunities, leverage digital sales channels, and drive sustainability through MNE initiatives. Since 2009, he has taught in bachelor’s and master’s programs, and since 2023, serves as Cohort Director for the Executive MBA program. His work appears in top journals like Journal of World Business and British Journal of Management.
Research interests include the interplay between ethical leadership, CSR strategies, and global challenges. He examines how MNEs pioneer sustainability solutions and how SMEs navigate institutional pressures in adopting e-commerce. Notable contributions address blockchain’s role in anti-corruption efforts and proactive CSR approaches in developing markets.
Teaching spans undergraduate to executive education, emphasizing international business principles and strategic frameworks. His publications highlight innovation in global sourcing and network-based knowledge creation in international SMEs.
