Dr. Daniel Spillman is a Professor of History at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU). His academic focus lies in 20th-century American political, intellectual, and religious history, with specialization in conservative youth movements of the 1960s and American fundamentalism during the 1920s-1930s. He has received notable awards including the Lucille Westbrook Award (2020) and the OBU 'Seven Who Care Award' (2020).
He teaches courses on American crime history, the Civil War, family life, sports history, and 20th-century U.S. history. Dr. Spillman also leads OBU's Honors Program courses and organizes study abroad programs, such as a 2020 WWII/Holocaust-focused trip to Europe. He previously taught at Williams Baptist College and Emory University.
Professional affiliations include the Midwestern History Association and the Arkansas Historical Association. His research has been showcased in venues like the American Historical Association and Baylor University's International Conference on Baptist Studies.
