Daniel Ricardo Quiles is an Associate Professor of Art History, Theory, and Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). His research focuses on Argentine conceptualism, transnational art networks, and the intersection of new media with political contexts in Latin American art. He holds a Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center (2010) and has held notable fellowships including the Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant (2013) and the Artlas Post-Doctoral Fellowship at École Normale Supérieure (2013–2014).
Quiles teaches courses on postwar art of the Americas, emphasizing transnational dialogues and the role of art in sociopolitical contexts. His research explores how Latin American artists engage with global networks, particularly through technology and media. Recent courses include 'Gore Capitalism: Contemporary Cinema and Crisis' (Spring 2025) and 'Contemporary Art+Criticism NYC' (Winter 2025).
His publications span academic journals like Art Journal, ARTMargins, and Caiana, as well as critical writing for Artforum and DIS Magazine. A 2017 book-length conversation with Jaime Davidovich reflects his interest in collaborative art practices. Quiles advocates for pedagogy that bridges historical analysis with contemporary artistic practices, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue across cultural and geographic boundaries.
