Dr. Daniel Priebbenow is a Senior Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry at Monash University. He holds a PhD in Synthetic/Medicinal Chemistry from Deakin University (2011). His research focuses on asymmetric catalysis, transition-metal catalysis, and sustainable chemical synthesis, particularly leveraging photochemical and light-driven reactions. He leads projects such as 'Data Driven Discovery of New Catalysts for Asymmetric Synthesis' (ARC-funded) and 'New therapies preventing heart damage during chemotherapy' (NHMRC-funded).
His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy and good health. Key awards include the RACI Athel Beckwith Lectureship (2022), DECRA Fellowship (2020), and Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2012). He is actively involved in academic committees, serving on the National Committee for Chemistry (2023–2026).
Research interests span anti-tubercular drug discovery, WEE1 kinase inhibitors for cancer therapy, and novel synthetic methodologies using acylsilanes and siloxy carbenes. Collaborations include the University of Victoria (Canada) and the Ian Potter Foundation.
