Daniel Phong Minh Nguyen

Dr. Daniel Phong Minh Nguyen is a Lecturer in Finance at Federation University Australia’s Institute of Innovation, Science and Sustainability (IISS), holding roles as Work-Integrated Learning Coordinator and Business Honours Program Coordinator. He previously taught at La Trobe University and served as a visiting scholar in the Department of Finance at Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, China (2019). His qualifications include a B.B.A. from Foreign Trade University, an M.Fin. and Ph.D. from La Trobe University.

Research focuses on investment portfolio management, behavioral finance, and quantitative finance, with publications in journals like The European Journal of Finance and International Review of Finance. Key areas include hedge ratio estimation, CEO overconfidence effects, and safe haven asset dynamics. He holds an innovation patent from IP Australia and operates a fintech and tax company.

Awards include the 2016 La Trobe Student Union Teaching Award and the 2016 Pro-Vice Chancellor’s Teaching Support Staff Award. Teaching expertise spans Financial Econometrics, International Financial Management, and Banking and Finance.
