Dr. Daniel O'Hare is an Associate Professor at Bond University's Faculty of Society & Design, affiliated with the Centre for Comparative Construction Research. He holds a PhD in Urban Design from Oxford Brookes University (1997), focusing on cultural landscapes in coastal tourism settlements.
His research interests center on sustainable urban transformation, cultural landscape management, walkable cities, cross-border regions, and knowledge-based urban development. He has led $1M+ research projects funded by ARC, CRCs, and industry, producing over 30 peer-reviewed publications across international journals and conferences.
O'Hare actively advises PhD students on topics like Chinese World Heritage management, Gold Coast Light Rail planning, and sustainable urban forms. He collaborates internationally on comparative studies of Australia, USA, Spain, Thailand, and the UK. His work emphasizes policy-relevant urban design solutions for climate resilience, heritage conservation, and equitable development.
