Dr. Daniel E. Miller is a Professor of History at the University of West Florida's Department of History and Philosophy, within the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. His research focuses on Czechoslovak democracy, agrarian politics, and land reform between the World Wars. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Pittsburgh. Miller has authored/coauthored multiple books and articles, including Forging Political Compromise and Governing Divided Societies, and has received prestigious awards for his work.
Education: B.A. in East European Studies and Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh; M.A. in History from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana; Ph.D. in History from the University of Pittsburgh.

- Interwar Czechoslovak democracy as a consociational model
- Agricultural politics and land reform in Central Europe
- Czech and Slovak national identity formation
- European Union perceptions in post-communist Czechoslovakia
Awards:
- 2000 Vernon Carstensen Award for best article on Slovak collectivization
- 2002 Best Historical Work by a Foreign Author
