Dr. Daniel Mikulaco is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Croatian Literature, Faculty of Humanities at the University of Juraj Dobrila in Pula. He holds a PhD from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb (2009), focusing on Croatian short prose of the 1990s. His research interests span modern and contemporary Croatian, Slavic, and South-Slavic literature, with a focus on narratology, literary theory, and cultural studies. He has published extensively on Vinko Kos, Croatian short stories, and postmodernism.
Education: Undergraduate studies in Croatistics at the University of Zagreb (1996), Master’s in Literary Science (2001), and a PhD in Literary Studies (2009). Professional memberships include Matrix Croatica (secretary 2006–2011, president 2011–present) and roles in academic conferences.
His research highlights include monographs like History of the Croatian Short Story (2023) and articles on Vinko Kos’s poetry and post-traumatic narratives. He actively participates in international conferences and editorial work, contributing to interdisciplinary discussions on Slavic and European intellectual history.
Teaching includes courses on contemporary Croatian literature, film art, and modern literary movements. His work bridges literary analysis with cultural and sociological perspectives, emphasizing modernity and postmodernism’s impact on Croatian literature.
