Daniel Maxwell, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine. He serves as Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Health Equity Track. His clinical and research interests span infectious diseases, critical care medicine, military medicine (including operational and aeromedical roles), global health, and biomedical engineering.
Dr. Maxwell earned a B.S. in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University (magna cum laude), a medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, and completed residency training at UT Southwestern, serving as Chief Resident. He later pursued advanced fellowships in infectious diseases and critical care medicine at UT Southwestern. His career includes military service as a U.S. Army Command Surgeon, emergency medicine work, and a role as an Aurora Fellow at Yambio State Hospital in South Sudan.
His notable award includes the Meritorious Service Medal (2018) for achievements during military deployment. While no specific grants or lab affiliations are detailed, his contributions include co-authorship of Fishman’s Pulmonary Diseases and Disorders and multiple academic publications in his fields of expertise.
