Daniel M. Herskowitz is the Smart Family Professor in Judaic Studies and Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Duke University’s Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. His academic career includes a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford (2018), an M.A. from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2013), and a B.A. from Columbia University (2007). His research focuses on modern Jewish philosophy, the reception of Martin Heidegger in Jewish thought, and intersections between Jewish and Protestant theology. He has contributed significantly to understanding the Second Vatican Council’s impact on Jewish-Catholic relations, Franz Rosenzweig’s theological frameworks, and Hans Jonas’s intellectual trajectory. His work often bridges philosophy, religious studies, and intellectual history, exploring themes like secularization, revelation, and interfaith dialogue. Herskowitz has published extensively in journals such as *Journal of Jewish Studies*, *Harvard Theological Review*, and *Modern Intellectual History*, and co-edited volumes including *Hans Jonas: The Early Years*. His teaching and scholarship reflect a commitment to interdisciplinary engagement with critical figures and movements in modern religious thought.
