Daniel Langton is Professor of Jewish History and Head of Division (Religion) at the University of Manchester's Department of Religions and Theology. He co-directs the Centre for Jewish Studies and holds a BA(Hons) and PhD in History from the University of Southampton.
His research explores Jewish intellectual history and Jewish-Christian relations, specializing in Jewish New Testament studies, Anglo-Reform Judaism, Holocaust Theology, and Jewish engagement with evolutionary theory and atheism.
Awards:
- Leverhulme Major Research Fellow (2013-15)
- AHRC Leadership Fellow (2016-17)
- University of Manchester Teaching Excellence Prize (2006)
He supervises PhD research on Jewish-Muslim relations, Jewish-Christian encounters, and Holocaust studies. His publications include books on Reform Judaism, Apostle Paul, and Claude Montefiore.
