Dr. Daniel Jacoby is an Associate Professor Adjunct in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure and cardiomyopathy, particularly hypertrophic, dilated, arrhythmogenic, and restrictive cardiomyopathies. As the Founder and Director of Yale’s premier Cardiomyopathy Program, he focuses on advancing patient care through innovative clinical and translational research.
Dr. Jacoby holds additional roles as Clinical Director of Innovation for Yale New Haven Health System, leading bio-tech partnerships and investments aligned with clinical needs. He completed his MD at Yale School of Medicine (2000) and a BA in Judaic Studies at Yale College (1993), followed by residency and fellowship training at Mount Sinai Hospital and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
His research focuses on novel therapies for cardiomyopathies, including aficamten’s efficacy in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM), biomarker applications, and patient-reported outcomes. Key contributions include the SEQUOIA-HCM and MAPLE-HCM trials, evaluating aficamten’s structural and functional benefits.
Dr. Jacoby has received awards for teaching and humanism in medicine. His work spans over 80 peer-reviewed publications, emphasizing clinical trials, genetic factors in cardiomyopathies, and translational innovations. He actively participates in committees like the Quality Assurance and Process Improvement Committee and the Advanced Heart Failure Recipient Review Committee.
His lab collaborations include studies on cardiac structure, exercise performance, and biomarker-driven diagnostics. Ongoing projects explore aficamten’s impact on sleep and daily activity patterns in heart failure patients, reflecting his commitment to holistic patient care.
