Daniel Hausig

Professor Daniel Hausig (born 1959 in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland) is a visual artist and Professor of Light and Intermedia at the Saar Academy of Fine Arts (HBKsaar) since 1999. His academic career includes serving as Vice Rector of HBKsaar from 2002 to 2008. He co-founded the Light in Fine Arts (LIFA) research database in 2015 with Prof. Dr. Michael Schwarz, establishing a significant resource for light-based artistic practices.

Hausig's research focuses on light as an artistic material and medium, exploring both traditional and digital applications. His work spans electroluminescent screen prints, digital LED installations with computer-assisted time-based controls, and large-scale projection mapping in public spaces. He investigates the continuation of painting through alternative media, particularly light-based techniques that transform spatial perception and create immersive experiences.

As an educator, Hausig supervises numerous students across Fine Art, Art Education, and Media Art & Design programs.
