Daniel Gonzalez-Socoloske is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Andrews University, where he returned in 2013 after earning his Ph.D. in Ecology from Duke University. His research specializes in tropical mammal ecology and conservation, with a focus on behavioral adaptations to environmental changes and human impacts.
His work investigates how natural and anthropogenic habitat alterations affect mammalian behavior, particularly in sirenians (manatees) and primates across Mesoamerica. Research methodologies include innovative techniques like side-scan sonar for habitat characterization and animal-borne sound recorders.
Dr. Gonzalez-Socoloske teaches courses including Marine Mammalogy at Rosario Beach Marine Laboratory, Biostatistics, Principles of Biology, and Mammalogy. He maintains professional memberships with the Society for Marine Mammalogy and Mesoamerican Society for Biology and Conservation.
