Ruth Carmichael is a Professor of Marine Sciences at the University of South Alabama and Senior Marine Scientist at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. She holds a Ph.D. in Marine Biology from Boston University (2004) and an M.A. from the same program (1998). Her research focuses on marine ecosystem responses to anthropogenic perturbations, emphasizing commercially important species like bivalves, horseshoe crabs, manatees, and dolphins. She uses stable isotope analysis, telemetry, and ecological modeling to study trophic interactions and habitat use.
