John Tanacredi is a Professor and Director of the Center for Environmental Research and Coastal Marine Studies (CERCOM) at Molloy University. His research spans interdisciplinary fields including environmental engineering, marine biology, terrestrial and aquatic ecology, and human ecology.
His work focuses on the conservation of horseshoe crabs, their ecological significance, and biomedical applications. He has contributed to key publications such as An Assessment of Horseshoe Crab Breeding Habitat and Trends on Long Island, New York, 2003–2017 and Microbiome associated with laboratory bred horseshoe crabs: A case study, emphasizing habitat monitoring, microbial ecology, and sustainable practices.
Tanacredi’s scientific contributions were honored with the naming of a new species, , by peers after his research expeditions to Easter Island.
