Daniel G. Tobin is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine and serves as Medical Director for Yale Primary Care and Adult Medicine at the Saint Raphael Campus. He is part of the leadership team for the Yale Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program. His academic roles include clinician-educator responsibilities, focusing on opioid safety, chronic pain management, and medical education. Tobin has held leadership positions in professional organizations such as the American College of Physicians and the Society of General Internal Medicine, contributing to policy development and clinical guidelines. He has received multiple awards, including the Clinician-Educator of the Year Award and the Laureate Award for his work in medical education and pain management.
Education: MD from Cornell University Medical College (1999), BS from Cornell University (1995), residency in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital (2002), and Chief Medical Residency at Hospital of Saint Raphael (2003).
Research focuses on opioid safety, academic medicine, and quality improvement. He collaborates with state agencies and legislative bodies to address opioid prescribing policies and has authored over 100 publications. His work includes developing the SCOPE of Pain education program and advising Connecticut’s Office of Health Strategy. He also serves on the CT Alcohol and Drug Policy Council and the Quality Council.
