معرفی
Daniel Foran is a DPhil Student and Clinical Research Fellow in the Antoniades Group at the University of Oxford, concurrently serving as a BRC Clinical Research Fellow in Cardiovascular Medicine and Medical Doctor (Senior House Officer) at Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust. His academic appointments include Clinical Teaching Associate at Green Templeton College, Clinical Skills Faculty Tutor, Clinical Tutor for the LabMed course, and Junior Dean at Pembroke College.
His educational background comprises:
- MBBS from Imperial College London
- BSc (1st class hons) in Endocrinology (intercalated)
Research focuses on translational cardiovascular mechanisms, specifically adipose tissue-cardiovascular crosstalk in cardiometabolic dysfunction. He investigates insulin resistance, inflammation, and dysregulated redox signaling in obesity/diabetes-driven atherosclerosis, with emphasis on ceramide pathways and DPPIV substrates as therapeutic targets for vascular insulin resistance. His work utilizes the Oxford Heart, Vessels, and Fat (Ox-HVF) bioresource and integrates ex-vivo techniques with clinical trials.
Recent publications (2020-2024) demonstrate dual expertise in cardiovascular medicine (70% of output) and reproductive endocrinology (30%), featuring adipose biology, vascular redox signaling, and atherosclerosis as dominant themes. Methodologically, he combines machine learning multi-omics with basic science approaches, while his reproductive work centers on male infertility interventions.
Teaching activities include weekly bedside instruction for Green Templeton College medical students and LabMed course tutoring, supported by BRC funding for his DPhil research under Professors Antoniades and Channon.
He operates within the Antoniades Group's translational framework, leveraging the Ox-HVF bioresource for mechanistic studies of epicardial/perivascular adipose depots in cardiometabolic disease progression.
