Daniel Fischer Halász is a Visiting Professor at the Central European University's Visual Studies Platform since 2023, specializing in photography and visual media education at MA/PhD and BA levels. His academic background includes ongoing PhDs at KU Leuven/LUCA School of Arts and Moholy-Nagy University, alongside degrees in photography and Scandinavian Studies. His research focuses on documentary practices, social change in marginalized communities, and rights advocacy in the digital era.
He has exhibited globally, with notable works addressing disability rights (collaboration with Zora Molnár), Finno-Ugric cultural identity (Family Russia series), and post-conflict reconstruction in Uganda (For God and My Country). Awards include the 2020 Capa Grand Prize and 2010 European Creativity Award.
Halász has taught at Moholy-Nagy, Eszterházy University, and the International Center of Photography. His projects often intersect art with activism, such as collaborations with NGOs like the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union and the Gulu Youth Development Association. His photographic work spans architectural studies (Origo offices), diaspora narratives (NYC Hungarian artists), and cross-cultural ethnography.
