Dr. Daniel E. Wueste serves as the Kathryn and Calhoun Lemon Professor of Philosophy at Clemson University’s Department of Philosophy and Religion, within the College of Arts and Humanities. He previously served as founding director of the Rutland Institute for Ethics (2001–2016), returning to full-time teaching and research afterward. His academic contributions span interdisciplinary ethics, legal philosophy, and social/political philosophy, emphasizing connections between ethical theory and legal frameworks.
- Teaches in the Department of Philosophy and Religion, as well as Clemson’s Ph.D. Programs in Policy Studies and Healthcare Genetics.
- Authored works include Teaching Ethics: Instructional Models, Methods, and Modalities for University Studies (2021) and edited volumes on professional ethics.
- Conducted ethics training workshops across 10+ U.S. states and internationally (Australia, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico).
Research focuses on practical ethics applications in law, engineering, healthcare, and civic design. He has held leadership roles in ethics organizations, including serving as President of the Society for Ethics Across the Curriculum and Treasurer of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics.
