Daniel Clegg is a Professor of Comparative Social Policy and Head of Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the School of Social and Political Science. His research focuses on comparative social policy, particularly the social regulation of labour markets and welfare state reform in advanced democracies, with specialized expertise in French social and labour market policy.

Daniel supervises PhD students in comparative social policy, including projects on labour market policy in Conservative welfare states, unemployment policy for precarious workers, and knowledge in anti-poverty policy in Latin America. His publications since 2020 explore unemployment insurance trends, migration's impact on social protection, and policy responses to economic and health crises.
