Daniel Burns is an Associate Professor of Politics at the University of Dallas specializing in political theory and American politics. His research examines foundational questions in liberal democracy through historical analysis of Aristotelian, Augustinian, and Enlightenment thought.
Research concentrations include:
- Augustinian influences on modern politics
- Lockean democratic theory
- Tensions between liberal theory and institutional practice
- Religious foundations of political order
Publications analyze thinkers including Aristotle, Cicero, Locke, Rousseau, and contemporary theorists.
