Dr. Daniel Aguirre is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Roehampton University and an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies. His roles include teaching international law, human rights, and international relations across institutions in Canada, the UK, Italy, China, Thailand, and Myanmar. He specializes in business and human rights, conflict areas, and international development. Dr. Aguirre has advised NGOs and governments, notably serving as Legal Advisor for the International Commission of Jurists in Myanmar (2013-2017), focusing on access to justice and business accountability.
His current fellowship aims to develop a Commonwealth Responsible Business program promoting sustainable development, human rights, and environmental protection through international cooperation. He collaborates with civil society, legal practitioners, and governments across Commonwealth nations via workshops and conferences.
Research interests emphasize the intersection of law, globalization, and development, particularly in conflict zones. His work bridges academic and practical dimensions, including strategic litigation training and rule-of-law initiatives.
