معرفی
Professor Daniel A. Kirschner is an Emeritus Faculty member in the Biology Department at Boston College. His research focuses on the structural and biochemical analysis of nerve myelin, particularly its role in diseases like multiple sclerosis and peripheral neuropathies. He employs advanced techniques such as x-ray diffraction, neutron scattering, and molecular modeling to study myelin membrane interactions and adhesion mechanisms.
Education: Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Harvard University.
Research Interests: Structural biochemistry/neurobiology; ultrastructural neuropathology of myelins; remyelination; spinal cord injury. His work emphasizes understanding molecular interactions in myelin, including lipid-protein dynamics and the structural basis of demyelination.
Invited Talks: Delivered talks at institutions including MIT, Boston University, and international venues in Italy, Portugal, and Turkey. Topics include myelin structural biology and advanced imaging techniques.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams using cutting-edge structural biology tools. Notable collaborations include work with the Mario Negri Institute in Italy and the Institute Laue-Langevin in France.
