معرفی
Dana Sperry is a Professor in the Department of Art at Youngstown State University, working as an interdisciplinary digital media artist whose practice explores states of loneliness and isolation within post-industrial society through video, audio walks, and data visualizations. His work has been exhibited internationally across New York, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Brazil, India, and other global venues.
His educational foundation includes an MFA in Sculpture from Indiana University (2001), a BFA in Art, and a BA in Philosophy, all earned from Southern Methodist University (1995).
Sperry's research centers on expressive data visualizations and location-based audio experiences, notably demonstrated in projects like an audio walk intellectually and physically connecting the 1877 Pittsburgh Railroad Strike with contemporary self-driving car technology offices. His work interrogates societal insignificance through innovative digital formats, merging historical narrative with modern technological critique.
His recent publications reveal a consistent interdisciplinary trajectory examining historical events through digital media lenses, with particular emphasis on site-specific storytelling and societal resonance in post-industrial contexts.
