Bart Cammaerts

Professor Bart Cammaerts is a leading academic in media and communication studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He holds the rank of Professor of Politics and Communication, specializing in the intersection of media, protest, and democratic processes. His work critiques the normalization of neo-fascism and examines activist media strategies, alternative media, and youth participation in democratic systems. Cammaerts has extensive research experience, including roles as a post-doctoral Marie Curie Fellow and lecturer at LSE before becoming a full professor.

His research interests span media strategies of activists, protest dynamics, and resistance to authoritarian trends. Key areas include the role of social media in contemporary movements, the circulation of anti-austerity protests, and the defense of democratic values against populist challenges.
