Professor Dan Wincott holds the Blackwell Professor of Law and Society chair at Cardiff University's School of Law and Politics, based in the Wales Governance Centre and affiliated with the Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy (CITP). He also serves as Research Director for the UK in a Changing Europe initiative at King's College London.
His interdisciplinary research spans public law, Wales governance, Welsh politics, territorial politics, constitutional law, national identity politics, social policy, and socio-legal theory. This work critically examines the interplay between legal frameworks, political institutions, and societal dynamics, with particular focus on post-Brexit UK constitutional evolution and Welsh governance.
Professor Wincott directs the ESRC’s Governance after Brexit Research Programme, coordinating over 40 projects since 2018. Key roles include:

The Wales Governance Centre provides his primary research environment, conducting evidence-based analysis of Welsh and UK-wide constitutional developments while engaging policymakers, media, and public discourse on governance challenges.
